A reminder for parents that school gates open at 8:40am for registration to take place at 8:45am. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time so as not to miss out on valuable learning and to ensure they are settled in class at the start of everyday. Children can become very nervous and worried if they have to walk into a full classroom alone because they are late.   Lost minutes mean lost learning. Did you know that being late 15 minutes every day is the same as missing 2 whole weeks of school over a full academic year? Every minute counts and lost time all adds up. Being late doesn’t only affect your child, it disrupts other children in the class as well as the teachers trying to teach a lesson.  Children who were regularly late to school said: –
“I feel embarrassed, everyone looks at me.”
“I don’t know what to do, everyone’s started work.”
“I miss my friends and they miss me.”
“I don’t want my parents to get into trouble.”
All absences including sickness, holidays and early pick up notifications due to medical appointment etc. must be notified via the School Office and not through teachers or Dojo.
Please remember that as part of our Safeguarding Duty, we may conduct unannounced home visits if your child is not in school. This includes when we have reason to believe children are not ill but they may be on holiday which we have not been informed of.

We are delighted to share that we are launching a new whole-school attendance initiative called ATTENDANCE HERO – Here Every day, Ready and On time.

At Larkholme School, we believe that every child has the potential to be a hero in their own learning journey. One of the most important ways to support children to succeed is by ensuring they are in school every day, arriving on time and ready to learn.

Good attendance plays a vital role in children’s progress, confidence and overall well-being. As a school, we are working towards a whole-school attendance aim of at least 96%, while fully recognising that this may not always be achievable for every child due to medical needs, additional needs or exceptional circumstances. We are committed to working closely with families to support each child in attending as regularly as they are able.

To make attendance a positive and motivating experience, we will be celebrating and rewarding both individual pupils and whole classes.

Each week, Attendance Superheroes will be chosen for demonstrating positive attendance. This could include, but is not limited to, the following examples:

· maintaining full attendance for the whole week

· arriving on time each day and being ready to learn

· showing improvement in attendance and punctuality

· making a special effort to attend despite challenges, with support from home and school.

Attendance Superheroes will receive a range of rewards, including a sweet treat, a VIP seat in assembly for that week, a Golden Ticket and entry into an end-of-term prize draw to win an exciting reward.

To support punctuality, we would like to remind families that school gates open at 8.40am, and all children should be in school for an 8.50am start.

As always, we appreciate your continued support in encouraging your child to attend school every day and arrive on time. By working together, we can help every child achieve their very best.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs Zak

Thank you for your ongoing support.
